Following the introduction of the private member's bill, "Prohibition of Forcible Conversion of Religion," the Hon. Ratnasiri Wickramanayake, Minister of Buddha Sasana introduced a bill to cabinet , "The Act for Protection of Religious Freedom" on June 16.
